Ahmedabad Rural LCB seizes foreign liquor worth ₹7.68 lakh from Bolero pickup, two held

In a major enforcement action against the illegal liquor trade, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Ahmedabad Rural Police on Friday seized foreign liquor worth ₹7.68 lakh from a Bolero pickup during a late-evening raid in Viramgam. The operation, carried out on the basis of specific intelligence, also led to the detention of two persons, including a juvenile, officials said.
Acting of tip-off a team mounted surveillance in the Viramgam Town Post Office area. During which the team intercepted a Mahindra Bolero pickup near Ashtavinayak Bungalows, on the road connecting Popat Chowkdi to Viramgam Bus Stand.
Upon checking the vehicle, the team found 2,225 bottles and beer tins of various brands , packed in cartons and concealed beneath other goods. The seized consignment is valued at ₹7.68 lakh, while the vehicle and other materials recovered take the total seizure to ₹12.88 lakh, the police said.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shantibhai Ranabhai Rabari, a resident of Nenava in Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha district. A juvenile accompanying him has also been apprehended and will be processed as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
A case has been registered under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and further investigation is under way to trace the supply chain and destination of the liquor consignment.
