The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Ahmedabad Rural on Monday intercepted a major consignment of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) stored inside a cement bulker truck  on the Vataman–Bagodra highway, seizing 15,552 bottles valued at ₹2.02 crore. One accused was arrested while two others, including the alleged supplier from Rajasthan, are absconding.

The raid was conducted near Raipur Patiya under the jurisdiction of Koth Police Station as part of an ongoing operation under the Gujarat Prohibition Act. The LCB team intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting illicit liquor and recovered the large consignment concealed inside.

Officials said the total value of the seized consignment, including the liquor, the vehicle used for transportation, a mobile phone and cash, amounts to ₹2.27 crore.

Accused arrested, prime supplier absconding

The arrested accused has been identified as Mularam Devaram Jat , resident of Baksara village in Badmer taluka of Rajasthan.

LCB officials said preliminary questioning suggests that Jat was acting on instructions from a Rajasthan-based supplier and was transporting the consignment to an unidentified receiver in Jamnagar district.

Two accused are currently wanted:

- Anil Jagdishprasad Pandya, resident of Fatehpur Sikri, Rajasthan, believed to be the primary liquor supplier.

- An unidentified IMFL receiver based in Jamnagar.

All have been booked under Sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

Part of larger smuggling network

Investigators believe the consignment is part of a larger interstate liquor smuggling operation running between Rajasthan and Gujarat. Teams have launched a search to trace the two absconding accused and identify other members of the network involved in supplying and distributing IMFL across dry regions of the state.

Police said further investigation is under way, and additional raids may follow based on leads emerging from the interrogation of the arrested accused.
