Ahmedabad rural LCB busts robbery gang targeting farmers, two arrested
Accused with valuables

In a major breakthrough, the Ahmedabad Rural Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested two members of a gang targeting farmers and labourers in rural areas over the past eight months. The gang had created panic by attacking people guarding farms at night and robbing them in a brutal manner.

According to police sources, the gang operated in areas such as Sanand, Changodar, and Kerala village of Ahmedabad district. The accused would target farmers and workers sleeping in fields, assault them, and in several cases, mutilate their ears to snatch gold ornaments like earrings and studs.

The repeated incidents had led to fear among residents in these rural pockets, especially those staying overnight in farms for crop protection.

Taking serious note of the pattern, the Ahmedabad Rural LCB devised a special action plan. Using technical surveillance, CCTV footage, and human intelligence, police tracked down the suspects. Based on specific inputs, the main accused, Dashrath alias Dasho Devipujak, and Sanjay Kodariya were arrested.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to carrying out multiple robberies in these areas. One more accused, Prakash Ratilal Devipujak, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him.

Police have recovered stolen valuables worth over ₹6.69 lakh from the accused, including more than 57 grams of gold and silver ornaments.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to Sanand Town Police Station for further legal action. Authorities are also probing whether the gang was involved in similar crimes in other areas.
