A total 694 offences related to cyber fraud have been registered across police stations in Ahmedabad city in a span of two years between February 1, 2024 and January 31, 2026.

According to data presented in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in Gandhinagar, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police Station recorded the highest number of cases at 238. In contrast, Krishnagar Police Station registered 22 cases, while Naroda Police Station reported 21 offences. Sardarnagar, Danilimada, and Isanpur police stations each recorded 19 cases during the two-year period.

Notably, River East and River Front West police stations reported zero cyber fraud cases. Vatva and Chandkheda police stations registered only one case each, and Elisbridge Police Station saw two offences.

The total amount involved in these cyber frauds in Ahmedabad stood at ₹134.45 crore. Out of this, police have successfully recovered ₹49.01 crore. Detection was achieved in 315 cases, leading to the arrest of 664 accused persons across the two years.

Police officials investigate these cases thoroughly by examining bank KYC details, bank statements, transaction records, Call Detail Records (CDR), and IP addresses. For accused persons operating from other states, technical analysis of bank accounts and mobile numbers is conducted. Teams of police officials are dispatched to coordinate with local police in other states to trace and apprehend the culprits.

To facilitate the recovery of fraud amounts, banks are promptly notified through nodal officers. Details of the concerned accounts and transactions are obtained, and with court orders, the frozen amounts are refunded to the victim-complainants.

The government has emphasised that coordinated efforts between police, banks, and cyber cells are ongoing to strengthen investigations and minimise losses due to rising digital frauds. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant against suspicious calls, links, and investment offers that often lead to such scams.
