Gujarat has been experiencing a significant shift in its monsoon patterns in recent times. Heavy rainfall has led to flooding of many rivers and inundated several districts, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people.

Approximately 1 lakh individuals have been affected by this situation.

The state has recorded over 55% of its total seasonal average rainfall, with Kutch receiving the highest at 75%, followed by Saurashtra at 73%, South Gujarat at 69%, East-Central Gujarat at 37%, and North Gujarat at 30%.

While the entire state has been grappling with heavy showers, the two major cities of Ahmedabad and Rajkot have recorded the least precipitation. Both cities have experienced a 50% deficit in rainfall compared to the average.

Ahmedabad typically records 20 to 22 inches of rainfall by the end of July, but this year, it has received only 12 inches.

Similarly, Rajkot, which usually records over 40-45 inches of seasonal rainfall, has received only 15 inches this year, reflecting a 50% deficit.
