Ahmedabad Railway Division records ₹9,193 crore revenue, carries over 4 crore passengers

The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway (WR) has reported strong operational performance for the financial year 2025–26, generating total revenue of ₹9,193 crore and serving more than 4.08 crore passengers, WR reported.

The division also emerged as the top performer in WR and was ranked eighth nationally in freight operations, having handled 51.13 million tonnes of cargo during the year.

Freight transport remained the primary contributor to earnings, accounting for ₹6,867 crore of the total revenue. Coach revenue stood at ₹1,814 crore, while non-fare sources contributed ₹1,450.67 crore.

Passenger traffic remained robust, with 408.10 lakh people travelling across the division during the year. Railway officials noted a rise in the transportation of key commodities, including containers, fertilisers, salt, automobiles and LPG.

On the infrastructure front, the division added 163 kilometres of new railway lines. It also completed 26 road underbridges, four road overbridges and traction work covering 237 track kilometres.

In addition, new train services were introduced during the year, including routes connecting Veraval–Sabarmati, Asarwa–Udaipur City and Khedbrahma–Himmatnagar–Ahmedabad.
