Ahmedabad Police's midnight ‘Knock-Knock’ operation in Vatva, 8 detained for weapons, prohibition offences

In a large-scale midnight combing operation code-named 'Knock-Knock', the Ahmedabad City Police’s Zone-6 teams raided several residential towers in Vatva early Tuesday, targeting anti-social elements, narcotics activity and history-sheeters in the area.
The operation was carried out between 3 and 6 am on the instructions of Commissioner of Police G S Malik and Additional Police Commissioner Jaipalsinh Rathod. Over 300 police personnel, 40 home guards, surveillance teams, and inspectors from across Zone-6 joined the drive.
Around 70 towers were searched during the combing, and checks were conducted on 100 individuals linked to past criminal activities, police said. Seven people were found carrying weapons, including knives and swords, while one person was arrested for violating prohibition laws. Another accused, allegedly residing in government accommodation illegally after crossing state borders, was also detained.
As part of the crackdown, more than 400 vehicles were stopped and inspected, with three being detained for irregularities. Officials said the area was tightly cordoned off to prevent escape routes.
The operation was closely monitored through body-worn cameras, drone surveillance, video recording and pocket cops, ensuring real-time supervision of the teams on the ground.
Officials said the exercise was aimed at sending a strong deterrent message to gangs and anti-social elements operating in the Vatva cluster of towers, while also reassuring residents of increased police visibility and surveillance.
