Ahmedabad Police transfers 31 inspectors in major reshuffle: cybercrime, EOW get fresh faces

In one of the year’s largest reshuffles, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G S Malik on Monday ordered the transfer of 31 police inspectors across city police stations and specialised branches. The order, issued on August 18 from the Commissioner’s Office in Shahibaug, takes immediate effect.

The most significant movements involve branches dealing with financial fraud, cybercrime, and serious operations. Inspector P M Gamit has been shifted from the SC/ST Cell-II to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), while Inspector M V Patel  has been moved from Sarkhej (West) to the EOW. Inspector K A Gadhvi, currently with the EOW, has been posted to Navrangpura, while Inspector P K Gohil and R K Dhuliya join the EOW from Madhupura and Sarkhej respectively.

Cybercrime which has seen a surge in cases in recent years also gets new postings. Inspector P H Makwana has been transferred from Amraiwadi to Cybercrime, while IInspector M H Bhetaria have also joined the branch from Women’s West-II.

On the law-and-order front, Inspector D P Unadkat has been moved from Maninagar to the Special Operations Group (SOG), while Inspector S A Gohil has been reassigned within the SOG. Airport security will also see a change, with Inspector D S Patel shifted from Meghaninagar to the Airport police station.

Transfers have also been made in the traffic branch. Inspector S M Pathan has been moved to F-Traffic at Amraiwadi, while Inspectors V K Desai and P H Chaudhary have been reassigned to the E-Traffic wing.

Senior officials said the reshuffle is part of routine administrative changes but also reflects an effort to strengthen critical wings such as Cybercrime, the EOW and the SOG. All transferred officers have been directed to report to their new postings immediately.
