Ahmedabad Police to take partner’s lie-detection test to probe Assam woman’s death in Ghatlodia

More than three weeks after the death of an Assamese woman in Ahmedabad, the police are yet to make any headway and will rely on a lie-detector test of his live-in partner to get to the root of the case.
The woman’s family has accused the woman’s Rajasthani live-in partner of murder. As per the police, the abetment of suicide will also be probed.
As per the case details, the 24-year-old Shivali Kashyap from Assam allegedly died by suicide late on the night of June 10 after an argument with her partner over a meal in Ghatlodia.
According to Ghatlodia Police Inspector J S Kandoria, Shivali was an interior design student from Assam, who was in a live-in relationship with Rajasthan’s Saurabh Purohit. The couple was slated to get engaged soon. However, on June 10, Shivali lost her life after the couple quarrelled over food.
The PI stated that Saurabh had hit Shivali with a plate in anger and injured her nose, leaving food and blood stains on the wall. Shivali is then suspected of jumping from the balcony. The police are investigating the possibility of murder, but for now, it looks like a suicide, said the PI.
According to the police, Shivali reportedly had a history of depression, which the investigators will consider as the probe progresses.
