The Ahmedabad City Police on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Tera Tujko Arpan’ programme and launched a dedicated ‘Cyber Saathi’ chatbot (6357446357) at Tagore Hall, Paldi, in the presence of Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghvi.
Under the initiative, the police returned 771 mobile phones, 21 vehicles and 70 other recovered items collectively worth ₹26.25 crore to complainants and applicants across the city. The recoveries were made in connection with 848 crimes, applications and inquiries handled by seven police zones, including the Crime Branch, Cyber Cell, EOW and SOG.
As part of the event, three cybercrime victims were handed cheques totalling ₹82 lakh by the Minister. Officials said that in 2025 alone, the Ahmedabad City Police had facilitated the refund of nearly ₹19.15 crore to complainants who had lost money to cyber frauds.
The Cyber Saathi chatbot, developed by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Cell, aims to act as a 24/7 digital guardian for citizens. Available in both English and Gujarati, it offers guidance on:
- identifying and reporting cybercrime,
- cyber fraud prevention tips,
- updates on current cybercrime trends,
- how to report spam calls and messages, and
- information on refunds and unfreezing of bank accounts
The chatbot also provides contact details and Google Map locations of all police stations in Ahmedabad, ensuring quicker access for complainants.
Officials said the initiative is part of the police’s wider effort to blend technology with citizen services and build public confidence in handling digital threats.
