One of the most awaited  nights of 2023 will come with some restrictions for the Ahmedabad party-goers, as the city police have prepared an action plan for the night.

35 minutes for firecrackers

To begin with, the time to burst firecrackers has been reduced to 35 minutes only. The city folks will be allowed to burst the firecrackers from 11:55 p.m. to 12.30 a.m. only. However, the bursting of crackers on public roads and in silent zones will be prohibited.

The action plan includes reducing the incidents of drinking and driving, with the police instructed to inspect the drivers on New Year’s night with the help of breath analysers.

The police force will be in action from the evening of Dec 31, when the city will be partying at the more than 25 party plots and clubs.

The ongoing carnival

The ongoing Kankaria Carnival also has a police force implemented, with personnel working in three shifts. 350 personnel from traffic police, including one JCP (joint commissioner of police), two DCPs (deputy commissioners of police), one SP (superintendent of police), and two PI (police inspector), are currently appointed at the carnival.

Extra deployment

Additionally, three new police control rooms have been created. Two teams of bomb squad and dog squad will also be patrolling during the night, with constant CCTV monitoring across the city.

SHE teams will also be present at CG Road, Sindhu Bhavan Road, and SG Highway for the night.

A special drive is ongoing for drink and drive in the city from Dec 24, which will conclude on Dec 1. Under that, 89 crimes of prohibition have been reported from across Ahmedabad.
