The Aslali police in Ahmedabad have detained six Bangladeshi nationals, including three children and three adults, for allegedly residing illegally in India. The accused were apprehended from the outskirts of Naj village. Police said the individuals had entered India illegally without any valid identity documents and had been living in Ahmedabad for the past ten years. A case has been registered and legal proceedings are underway.

According to police sources, an Aslali police team was on patrol in the Naj village area of Bareja when they noticed suspicious movement near a borewell owned by Jalpesh Desai in a farm area. Upon checking, the police found Kalun Soleman Molla, Mohammad Arafat Molla and Ribakhatun Molla, along with three minor children.

During questioning, it was revealed that all of them are natives of the Khulna district of Bangladesh.

Further interrogation disclosed that the group had illegally crossed into India on foot via the Satkhira border of Bangladesh and entered Basirhat. From there, they travelled by taxi to Kolkata and later reached Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad by train.

The accused had been living in makeshift huts near the Chandola Lake area for nearly a decade. However, after the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently cleared encroachments around Chandola Lake, they fled the area and moved to the outskirts of Naj village about two-and-a-half months ago, where they were working as daily wage labourers.

During verification, police found that none of them possessed any documents proving Indian citizenship. Further investigation is ongoing.
