Ahmedabad Police destroy 11,600 litres of liquor worth ₹28 lakh on court orders

The Ahmedabad City Police on Tuesday destroyed more than 11,600 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) seized in prohibition cases registered across seven police stations under Zone-6.

The exercise covered liquor recovered during 2025 from prohibition cases registered at Isanpur, Maninagar, Vatva, Vatva GIDC, Narol, Danilimda and Kagdapith police stations.

Police said that, following the respective orders of the courts, all seized liquor stock listed by these stations was destroyed on Tuesday under supervised procedure.

According to the department, the combined stock included 181 cartons and 11,602 bottles, amounting to a total of 11,602 litres of liquor. The estimated cumulative market value of the destroyed stock is approximately ₹28.02 lakh.

A breakdown shared by the Zone-6 office shows:

  • Isanpur Police Station: 354 litres
  • Maninagar Police Station: 878 litres
  • Vatva Police Station: 1,386 litres
  • Vatva GIDC Police Station: 68 litres
  • Narol Police Station: 1,438 litres
  • Danilimda Police Station: 128 litres
  • Kagdapith Police Station: 547 litres
