Ahmedabad plane crash: Teen who captured live video provides details to police

A 17-year-old boy who captured the dramatic live footage of the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad provided the police with the details of the video. The teenager, identified as Rahul (name withheld due to age), recorded the video moments after the aircraft nosedived and crashed near the BJMC Boys Hostel in Meghaninagar on Thursday.
DCP Ajit Rajian, Crime branch, clarified that no one has been arrested over the video. The person who captured it was giving the details to the police.
Rahul, originally from Aravalli district, was visiting Ahmedabad to purchase books and study materials. His parents, daily-wage labourers, currently reside in a rented house in Meghaninagar. According to officials, Rahul happened to be on the terrace of his house which was near from the crash site when the incident occurred.
The boy began filming after noticing the aircraft flying unusually low. He instinctively started recording, capturing the exact moment of the crash.
The footage, which has since gone viral on social media and is being used by investigative agencies, is considered crucial in piecing together the final moments before the crash.
“He is being treated as a witness. There is no question of any legal action against him. His cooperation is helping us understand the visual timeline of the incident,” the officer added.
