Following the plane crash near Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, several hostel and residential buildings for medical students and super-specialty PG residents suffered significant damage.

The  buildings and hostel quarters of BJ Medical College and associated hospitals. As a precaution and due to ongoing investigations by various agencies, a total of five buildings have been completely vacated.

Over 150 super-specialty PG resident doctors from GCRI (Gujarat Cancer Research Institute), Civil Hospital, and Heart Hospital have been relocated to other accommodations.

Due to the damage, residents have been allotted space in other quarters or rented rooms. The affected PG hostel and quarters buildings, named Atulyam 1, 2, 3, and 4, are located near Ghoda Camp, slightly away from the Civil Hospital campus. Room allocation in these buildings was as follows:

Atulyam-2 housed GCRI residents,

Atulyam-3 included residents from Civil, Heart Hospital, and GCRI,

Atulyam-1 and 4 housed residents from various super-specialty branches of Civil Hospital.

Each building contains 23 quarters, with 2–3 rooms per unit. Many doctors were living with their families, while some quarters housed 5–6 resident doctors.

As the crash occurred in the afternoon, most of the residents were on duty in OPDs or operation theatres, which helped prevent any fatalities among the PG residents. Those present in the buildings during the crash managed to escape safely, often by running or jumping over barriers.

Of the four Atulyam buildings, one sustained major structural damage, while the other three suffered moderate damage. Given the structural concerns and the need for investigation, all five buildings have been vacated for now.

Approximately 80–90 residents from GCRI and around 70 from Civil Hospital have been allotted temporary rooms in various locations:

Special rooms in the old cancer building

Mithila Quarters

Dental Faculty Quarters

Hospital Staff Quarters

Once the structural inspections and investigations are complete, some residents may be allowed to return to 2–3 of the less damaged buildings after a few days.
