Ahmedabad nurse alleges fake instagram account circulated intimate photos, case filed

A 26-year-old woman from Ranip has lodged a cyber crime complaint alleging that an unidentified person created a fake Instagram account and circulated her personal and intimate photographs to her husband and friends, while also sending abusive messages in an apparent attempt to harass and defame her.
According to Ranip Police, the complainant, a staff nurse employed at a private hospital in Ahmedabad, alleged that she had been subjected to online harassment for several years through multiple social media accounts operated by an unknown individual.
The woman stated that she had previously faced similar harassment before her second marriage in 2024 and had already approached cyber crime authorities in connection with an earlier case, which is reportedly pending before a court.
In her latest complaint, the woman alleged that on March 3, an Instagram account operating under the name “bindiya_gusai” sent her personal and nude photographs to her husband’s Instagram account, along with objectionable messages. She further claimed that similar messages and photographs were also shared with some of her friends.
The woman initially refrained from informing family members about the harassment out of concern that it could adversely affect her personal life. However, after her husband received the photographs and messages, the matter came to light, leading the couple to examine the Instagram account and discover the allegedly fake profile.
The complainant told police that she did not know the person behind the account and had never met anyone using that identity. She alleged that the account holder deliberately concealed their identity while using social media to target her and create discord within her family.
The complainant had earlier submitted an online grievance through the national cyber crime reporting portal and subsequently filed a written representation with local authorities.
Based on the complaint, Ranip Police have registered a case under Sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000, relating to identity theft and cheating by personation using computer resources. The investigation has been entrusted to a police inspector, who will seek to identify the person operating the Instagram account and trace the origin of the messages and images.
Police said further investigation is underway.
