AMC resolves 1523 complaints in the first public meet

Complaint redressal meeting organised to resolve 1861 complaints registered online

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) organised a complaint redressal meeting for the North-West zone of Ahmedabad on Aug 5 at Pandit Deendayal Hall in Thaltej. This meeting was organised to address the complaints received on the AMC complaint portal. These meetings will be organised for the city’s 48 wards until Aug 14.

AMC had launched a drive under the central government’s Digital India initiative to accept public grievances and complaints through an online portal. AMC initiated this drive to resolve public grievances more quickly online.

1861 complaints made to AMC related to various issues

In this meeting, AMC received a total of 1861 complaints, out of which 1523 were resolved there itself. While the remaining 338 complaints were put through the verification process.

The highest number of complaints were related to property tax (402), health, birth-death-related (393), and water-sewage-roads (382).

Narmada water issue and other various problems arising from a single ward

Residents of the city's North-West zone complained about not getting water from Narmada despite writing to the authorities for two years, about garbage not being disposed of on time, and also about the broken roads in various areas.

A total of 27 complaints related to infrastructure were made by the citizens present at the ward meeting held in Maninagar. Among these complaints, five were related to paver blocks, while six were for filling potholes on the road.

There were complaints related to low-pressure water and water line leakage. Among the 13 complaints related to the drainage department, eight were related to drainage choking, two were related to manhole repair, and two were related to street tap choking.

AMC steps up 

In the ward meeting, the people who had complained to the AMC about dustbins not being provided for separating wet and dry waste were provided with dustbins on the spot. Fogging was carried out in several areas after complaints were made to the health-malaria department that fogging was not being done for mosquito control.
