Ahmedabad Metro to extend timings till 12.30 am on T20 World Cup match days

The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has announced extended metro train timings in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on selected days during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, when day-night matches are scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
According to the official schedule, matches will be held on February 9, 11, 14, 18, 22 and 26, and possibly on March 8 if the final is hosted in Ahmedabad. On these days, metro services will operate until 12.30 am to facilitate late-night travel for spectators.
Under normal operations, metro services in Ahmedabad run from 6.20 am to 10 pm, while services on the Motera Stadium–Mahatma Mandir corridor in Gandhinagar operate between 7.30 am and 7.40 pm. During match days, special late-night services will be introduced after the regular closing time.
Extended services will run from Motera Stadium to APMC between 10 pm and 12.30 am, and from Old High Court Interchange to Vastral Gam and Thaltej Gam between 10 pm and 12.50 am. In addition, two extra services from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir will operate at 11.40 pm and 12.10 am.
Passengers will be able to board late-night trains only from Motera Stadium and Sabarmati metro stations for travel to operational stations across both Ahmedabad Metro corridors. For the Gandhinagar corridor, the additional late-night trains will connect Motera Stadium with Mahatma Mandir station.
To ease travel for match-goers, GMRC will also introduce a special return paper ticket priced at a flat ₹50 per passenger, valid for travel during the extended hours from Motera Stadium or Sabarmati stations to any operational metro station in Ahmedabad, and from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
Regular ticketing methods — including tokens, smart cards and QR-based tickets — will remain valid only until 10 pm on match days. After that time, entry at Motera Stadium and Sabarmati stations will be permitted exclusively with the special paper ticket, which can be purchased in advance from several designated metro stations across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar to avoid queues after the matches.
