The Ahmedabad Metro recorded its highest-ever annual revenue in 2025, surpassing ₹58 crore and marking a 35% increase over the previous year.

Passenger footfall also reached a new high, with 4.83 crore commuters using the metro during the year for the first time. On average, the metro earned around ₹12 per passenger through ticket sales. In comparison, revenue stood at ₹32.12 crore in 2024 and ₹43.62 crore in 2023, indicating a phased and consistent increase in ridership and income.

December 2025 proved to be the most profitable month, with the metro earning ₹5.57 crore from 45.96 lakh passengers. Between October 2024 and December 2025, a total of 23.51 lakh passengers travelled by metro, contributing ₹39.61 crore in revenue.

Officials noted that the number of passengers in the metro is increasing compared to the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). While 96,967 passengers were recorded on BRTS in 2021, the number rose to 1.70 lakh in 2022 and about two lakh in 2023. In 2024, BRTS income was recorded at ₹22.77 lakh.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Metro is also set for major expansion, with the metro line up to Mahatma Mandir scheduled to be inaugurated on January 12. Additionally, new phases of the project will be announced as part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games.

Under Phase 2A, a 6-km corridor from Koteshwar Road to the airport will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹1,800 crore. The route will pass via Hansol and Taj Circle, with the stretch from Taj Circle to the airport planned as an underground section. The airport metro line is expected to become operational by 2028.

Phase 2B will focus on improving internal connectivity within GIFT City. The proposed corridor will have three stations and is expected to benefit office-goers and residents working in the financial hub.
