Ahmedabad Metro reduces train timing on Diwali day

The Ahmedabad Metro Rail will operate with reduced service hours on Diwali day, October 20, 2025, in view of public celebrations and widespread bursting of firecrackers that may pose safety risks to passengers and affect operational safety.

At present, metro train services in Ahmedabad run from 6.20 am to 10 pm. However, for one day on October 20, services will be curtailed, with operations ending at 7 pm. The decision, officials said, follows similar precautionary measures adopted by other metro networks across the country during the festival period.

According to a notification from the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), the last train departures from terminal stations across the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar corridors will take place between 6.24 pm and 7.10 pm.

Revised Metro Timings on Diwali (20 October 2025):

  • From Vastral Gam to Thaltej Gam: 7.05 pm
  • From Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam: 7.10 pm
  • From Motera Stadium to APMC: 7.10 pm
  • From APMC to Motera Stadium: 7.10 pm
  • From APMC to Sachivalaya: 6.24 pm
  • From Sachivalaya to APMC: 6.24 pm
  • From Gift City to APMC: 6.18 pm

Metro officials have advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly and avoid last-minute rushes. Normal service hours will resume from October 21.

The GMRC stated that the temporary schedule change has been implemented “purely as a safety measure” to ensure smooth operations during the festival, given the heavy use of fireworks and potential visibility issues along the metro corridor.
