Registering complaints related to incidents inside Ahmedabad Metro trains or damage to metro properties has long posed difficulties for victims and authorities due to jurisdictional overlaps. To address this, Ahmedabad Police have divided the city’s metro rail network into two sectors for the purpose of registering cases – Khokhra and Paldi.

The metro network spans over 60 kilometres and passes through the jurisdiction of several local police stations. However, coordination issues often arose when incidents occurred inside metro trains or stations, as it was unclear which police station had jurisdiction.

In response, senior police officials placed the matter before higher authorities, following which the police commissioner issued a notification on Thursday dividing the metro network into two sectors.

Under the new arrangement, complaints from Sector-1 areas will be registered at Paldi Police Station. Sector-1 includes police stations falling under Zone-1, Zone-3 and Zone-7, such as Vastrapur, Sola, Ghatlodia, Gujarat University, Naranpura, Navrangpura, Vasna, Sabarmati Riverfront West, Chandkheda, Khadia, and Kalupur.

Complaints from Sector-2 areas, covering Zone-4, Zone-5 and Zone-6, will be registered at Khokhra Police Station. This sector includes police stations such as Dariapur, Shahibaug, Meghaninagar, Rakhial, Gomtipur, Odhav, Amraiwadi and Ramol.
