Mobile Shop owner dupes a man of ₹32 lakh

A complaint has been registered at the Ghatlodiya police station against a mobile phone dealer for allegedly scamming people under the pretense of offering commission in exchange for using their credit cards for purchases.

According to the information, Pranav Patel, a resident of Ghatlodiya who owns a garage in Vadaj, had given his credit card to Yash Mehta. Mehta was introduced to him in 2021 by his school friend Rushabh Vora, who owns a mobile phone shop.

Mehta had informed Patel that he would offer ₹7000 as commission for every ₹1 lakh transaction made using the credit card. Initially, Mehta regularly paid the credit card bills and also paid Patel the promised commission.

As Patel gained trust in Mehta, he also provided him with the credit cards of his friends and relatives. However, after 2–3 months, Mehta stopped paying both the commission and the credit card bills.

In total, an alleged fraud of ₹31.68 lakh was committed by Mehta. Following the complaint, the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
