Ahmedabad man booked under POCSO for allegedly abducting, assaulting minor girl

The Vadaj police in Ahmedabad have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a man accused of allegedly abducting a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her after taking her to Rajasthan.

According to Vadaj police, the accused has been identified as Ashok Sureshbhai Dabhani, a resident of Ramapir No Tekro area.

Police said the complaint was filed by the minor girl's father a resident of New Vadaj.

As per the complaint, the incident took place during the early hours of May 6, when the accused allegedly contacted the minor girl, aged 14 years and eight months, over the phone and called her outside her residence in Vadaj area around 12.30 am.

The accused allegedly lured the girl on the pretext of marriage and took her away. Police alleged that the accused then took the girl to Abu in Rajasthan, where he allegedly kept her in a hotel and sexually assaulted her.

Based on the complaint, the Vadaj police registered an offence under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act.
