Ahmedabad man booked for stabbing wife during domestic dispute in Thaltej

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband following a domestic dispute over money in the Thaltej area of Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon. The accused has been booked for assault and causing grievous injury, police said.
A case has been registered with the Bodakdev police. The incident took place on March 31 around 4 pm at the couple’s residence, a temporary dwelling located behind Intas Company near a water tank in Thaltej.
Meenaben Wadhwana stated in her complaint that she and her two young sons were at home when her husband Dhirajbhai Kantibhai Wadhwana demanded ₹200 from her. Upon her inability to provide the money, he allegedly became enraged, verbally abused her, and began physically assaulting her.
Meenaben alleged that the accused first pulled her by the hair and beat her with a stick. When she resisted and pleaded with him to stop, he reportedly attacked her with a sharp object, stabbing her on the left side of her abdomen.
Hearing her screams, neighbours gathered at the spot, following which the accused fled. The victim was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital by her sister-in-law with the assistance of emergency services. She is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be conscious and stable.
Police officials said a case has been registered based on the victim’s statement, and further investigation is under way. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the accused, who is absconding.
Authorities added that statements of witnesses, including the victim’s relatives, are being recorded as part of the probe.
