Ahmedabad man booked for obscene gestures, abuse and vandalism at Shahpur shop

An Ahmedabad shopkeeper has filed a complaint against a resident for allegedly making obscene gestures at his wife, using abusive language, vandalising electrical goods at his shop and issuing threats in the early hours of Monday.
Harshad Makwana (49), who runs a small electrical goods shop named Shri Bhadreshwar Electric from his residence in Ghee Kanta, in his complaint to Shahpur police alleged that the accused Raju Vaghela (41) arrived drunk around 3.30 am on September 29.
Makwana alleged that his wife, Rinku, noticed Vaghela allegedly making “dirty and obscene gestures” towards her while she was at home with their three children. “When she woke me up and informed me, I confronted him. Raju began arguing, hurled filthy abuses and then vandalised electrical items kept outside my cabin. Before leaving, he threatened to ‘see me later',” the complaint reads.
Police stated that the damaged goods were part of the shop's inventory, although the value of the loss has yet to be officially assessed.
The complainant added that Vaghela, a resident of Kalupur, is known to be habitually drunk and quarrelsome.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under sections relating to obscene acts, verbal abuse, criminal intimidation and damage to property and have started an investigation.
“The accused has been identified and further investigation is underway,” a senior officer at Shahpur police station said.
