Ahmedabad man assaulted by wife, in-laws in OTP dispute, three relatives booked

A 25-year-old furniture maker from Behrampura has lodged a police complaint alleging that he was assaulted by his estranged wife, father-in-law and brother-in-law following a dispute over a one-time password (OTP). The attack, left him with a deep head wound requiring six stitches.
The complainant, Muhammad Siraj Rujal Memon, a resident of Behrampura, said that on Monday afternoon he received repeated phone calls from his wife and in-laws demanding that he share an OTP that had arrived on his mobile number.
Memon said he first received a call around 12.30 pm from his estranged wife, who asked him to share an OTP allegedly required for a transaction. Soon after, he received another call from his mother-in-law’s phone, during which his brother-in-law, Fawad Abdul Aziz Sheikh, allegedly threatened to kill him if he did not provide the code.
Around 1.30 pm, when Memon returned home, he found his wife standing below his housing block. She allegedly abused him and called her brother Fawad to the spot. Fawad arrived shortly after and allegedly began kicking and punching Memon.
Moments later, Memon’s father-in-law, Abdul Aziz Ghafurbhai Sheikh, also reached the location and joined the assault. Both men allegedly beat him with their hands before Fawad picked up a brick lying nearby and struck Memon on the head three to four times.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to intervene and rescued him. Memon, bleeding heavily from the head, called the 108 emergency service and was taken to L G Hospital, where doctors administered six stitches.
After receiving preliminary treatment, Memon approached Danilimda Police Station to register his complaint. Police have booked:
* Wife: Juar Khan (Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh)
* Brother-in-law: Fawad Abdul Aziz Sheikh
* Father-in-law: Abdul Aziz Ghafurbhai Sheikh
The trio has been accused of assault, criminal intimidation and causing hurt using a dangerous weapon (brick), among other relevant sections.
A senior officer at Danilimda Police Station confirmed that the FIR has been registered and investigation has begun. “Statements of neighbours identified as eyewitnesses will be recorded, and further evidence will be collected,” the officer said.
Memon and his wife have been separated for nearly nine months. Their young daughter reportedly lives with her mother.
