Ahmedabad man alleges assault by cousin over monetary dispute

The Kagadapith police have registered a case after a 25-year-old casual labourer from Chunaravas alleged that he and his mother were assaulted by his cousin and relatives following a quarrel over repayment of money.

Vijaybhai Chunara, a resident of Raipur, in his complaint stated that the incident occurred around 4 pm on Thursday when he went to demand repayment of a sum he had earlier lent to his uncle’s son, Shailesh Chunara, who lives opposite his house.

Vijaybhai stated that Shailesh became enraged and began arguing. Shailesh’s wife, Dharmishthaben, and his son-in-law, Raj Chunara, also joined the fray. Shailesh and Raj started beating him with a wooden stick, when the victim's mother Ushaben rushed to intervene, Dharmishthaben punched her in the face

Neighbours gathered at the scene and helped separate the parties, preventing further violence, the FIR added.

Based on the complaint, the police have booked Shailesh, Dharmishthaben and Raj under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal assault. Further investigation is under way.
