Ahmedabad has experienced a dry spell over the past few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting no significant rainfall in the city until August 14. However, meteorologists anticipate the arrival of a fresh monsoon round from August 17, which could bring moderate to heavy showers between August 17 and 20.

So far this season, Ahmedabad has recorded 21.45 inches of rain, which is 67.62% of its seasonal average. Ahmedabad district has received 16.36 inches, or 62.21% of the average. As of August 8, the rainfall deficit stands at 6%, compared to 8% at the same time last year.

According to the IMD, the current break in monsoon is expected to continue until mid-August, with weather in Ahmedabad remaining mostly cloudy and hot over the next week. Daytime temperatures are forecast to hover around 32–34°C, with occasional light showers possible in isolated areas.

The wet conditions are expected to return after Independence Day, when a new monsoon spell is likely to cover the city and other parts of Gujarat, potentially improving the season’s rainfall figures.
