Ahmedabad HR manager booked for exploiting colleague, blackmailing her with private videos

The Mahila Police Station (West) in Ahmedabad has registered a case against a Human Resources manager in a private company. A 42-year-old woman had filed a detailed complaint against her former colleague Bhavesh Bharat Mulchand Kundal, accusing him of sexually exploiting her, blackmailing her with private photos and videos, and circulating intimate visuals to her office staff, which eventually led to her losing her job.
From workplace acquaintance to harassment
The complainant, a resident of Vastrapur, met Bhavesh in 2022 while interviewing for a job at a Vastrapur-based firm. Initially, the two developed a friendship, and the accused allegedly proposed marriage despite being married himself. Believing his assurances that he was seeking divorce, the complainant entered into a relationship with him.
Over the next two years, she alleged, Bhavesh repeatedly sought money for “college fees and loan instalments”, which she transferred both in cash and online. Later, she discovered his involvement with other women, sparking disputes that allegedly turned violent.
Threats, blackmail and forced relations
In her statement, the complainant alleged that whenever she resisted physical relations, the accused would show her photos and videos of their private moments and threaten to circulate them among her family and acquaintances. She alleged that he harassed her over phone calls and WhatsApp, even sending her nude photos of himself and threatening suicide if she did not comply with his demands.
On several occasions, the accused allegedly barged into her residence, abused her, and physically assaulted her. On March 24, 2025, Bhavesh arrived at her house, brandished a ring, pretended to harm himself, and demanded sexual relations while threatening to release intimate content.
The complainant further alleged that in May 2025, Bhavesh began sending private images of her to colleagues at her workplace, which led to her termination. She accused him of deliberately ruining her professional and personal life through “emotional manipulation, blackmail and repeated abuse”.
Police initiate action
Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered under sections pertaining to sexual assault, criminal intimidation, physical assault, cheating and IT Act provisions related to circulation of obscene material.
“Based on the detailed complaint and supporting evidence, a criminal case has been registered. The investigation has started, and further inquiry is under way,” said senior police official
