Ahmedabad firm alleges ₹96 lakh cheating by Ludhiana-based yarn trader, complaint filed with Crime Branch

An Ahmedabad-based yarn manufacturing company has approached the city Crime Branch, alleging that a Ludhiana-based trader cheated it of nearly ₹96 lakh by failing to clear outstanding dues for polyester yarn supplied over a two-year period.
The complaint was filed by Mukesh Kumar Ghanshyambhai (55), a resident of Vastral, who stated that he has been working for the past 13 years as a manager with Chiripal Industries Limited, a yarn manufacturing company based in Ahmedabad. He told police that he was authorised by the company’s owner to initiate legal proceedings in the matter.
As per the FIR, the accused has been identified as Ramchandra Jalan, proprietor of Jalan Inter Dyke, a Ludhiana-based firm registered. The business relationship between the two firms began in 2016 after Jalan was introduced to the complainant company through a marketing manager.
Between June 21, 2019, and May 21, 2021, the accused allegedly purchased polyester yarn worth ₹15.14 crore from the Ahmedabad-based manufacturer on a 30-day credit arrangement. The goods were supplied in instalments over the agreed period, police said.
Company records cited in the complaint show that while payments totalling ₹14.18 crore were received by December 26, 2022, an amount of ₹95.92 lakh remains unpaid. Despite repeated follow-ups and assurances, the accused allegedly failed to clear the outstanding dues.
The complainant further alleged that the accused later admitted to having sold the yarn, utilised the proceeds for personal purposes and decided to shut down his business, thereby defaulting on the payment and betraying the trust of the supplier.
Based on the complaint and supporting documents, including bills, ledgers and an authorisation letter, the Economic Offences wing of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has initiated action. Police said a case has been registered for cheating and criminal breach of trust, and further investigation is under way to examine financial records and trace the flow of funds.
