Ahmedabad feels peak winter chill despite 17°C minimum

Even with the minimum temperature at 17°C, Ahmedabad residents are experiencing a strong winter-like chill. Meteorologists say the reason is not just the minimum temperature, but a simultaneous drop in the maximum temperature, which has increased the overall intensity of cold.
On Friday, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 17.1°C and a maximum of 28.8°C. Officials from the Meteorological Department said that the reduced temperature gap is making the weather feel noticeably colder. In most parts of Gujarat, maximum temperatures are now around 30°C, compared to 32–33°C just a few days ago.
| City | Maximum (°C) | Minimum (°C) |
|---|---|---|
| Ahmedabad | 28.8 | 17.1 |
| Gandhinagar | 30.5 | 15.5 |
| Vadodara | 29.6 | 14.8 |
| Surat | 31.8 | 19.6 |
| Rajkot | 32.5 | 14.2 |
| Bhuj | 30.0 | 14.6 |
| Naliya | 29.9 | 11.6 |
| Amreli | 29.9 | 15.0 |
| Bhavnagar | 28.4 | 18.6 |
Earlier, the difference between minimum and maximum temperatures hovered around 20°C. This gap has now narrowed to nearly 15°C, contributing significantly to the heightened chill across the state.
