Ahmedabad cyber sleuths arrest man over bomb threat emails sent to Gujsail, airport, schools

The Cyber Cell of Ahmedabad Crime has arrested a man in connection with threatening emails sent to the airport, Gujsail and several schools in the city warning of bomb blasts, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the threatening email was received on March 25, 2026, triggering panic among authorities and prompting heightened security measures at sensitive locations, including educational institutions and airport premises.
Investigators said the email contained alarming messages threatening explosions and targeting senior political leaders. The message allegedly read: “Gujsail blast Eid ka tofa Modi and Shah. I will kill you. Bomb blast in all schools. Mera bhai Saurab Biswas ko rihae karo. Wait and watch, all boom blast.”
Following the threat, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police registered a case and launched a technical investigation to trace the origin of the email.
Police said the email had been sent using the address “[bhavesh4518@gmail.com], following which investigators traced and arrested a man identified as Bhavesh Patel. Officials said the email account was found active on the accused’s mobile phone during the investigation.
According to police sources, Bhavesh Patel worked in event management operations at the airport along with a friend and had also been employed with a construction company. Investigators said the accused had studied up to Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).
Officials are currently probing whether Bhavesh Patel himself sent the threatening emails or whether another individual misused his email identity to issue the threats.
Police also noted that the email contained a demand seeking the release of one 'Saurab Biswas'. Investigators said Saurab Biswas had previously been arrested in a separate case involving threatening emails.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Lavina Sinha said the cyber crime unit carried out an extensive digital investigation before tracing the accused. Officials are also examining electronic devices and communication records recovered during the probe.
Authorities said security agencies had treated the threat with utmost seriousness given the references to schools, airport facilities and possible bomb blasts. Further investigation is under way to establish the motive behind the emails and determine whether additional persons were involved in the conspiracy.
Police officials reiterated that stringent action would be taken against those attempting to create panic or threaten public safety through digital communication platforms.
