Ahmedabad Customs seize US dollars worth ₹25 lakh at SVPI Airport

Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), Ahmedabad Customs, intercepted a male passenger at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on the basis of specific intelligence received from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
The passenger was departing from SVPI Airport, Ahmedabad, to Dubai by a SpiceJet flight on February 13, 2026, when he was intercepted by the officials.
During examination of the passenger’s baggage and personal search, Customs recovered 288 currency notes of $100 denomination each, amounting to a total of $28,800.
The foreign currency was found concealed in the passenger’s trolley bag, carry bag and the pocket of the trousers worn by him.
The seized foreign currency has been valued at ₹25,81,920.
Further investigation is under progress, Customs officials said.
