Officials of Ahmedabad Customs have seized 9.30 kilograms of heroin worth ₹41 crore from a passenger who arrived at Ahmedabad airport from Kuala Lumpur, in one of the major narcotics seizures reported at the airport in recent months.

According to officials, the contraband was recovered from suspicious hand baggage carried by the passenger during inspection at the international terminal of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Customs officials said the heroin had been concealed in multiple packets hidden inside the baggage in an attempt to evade detection. The substance was subsequently sent for forensic examination, where the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed it to be heroin.

Following the confirmation, the passenger was arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Officials said the seizure highlights continued vigilance by Ahmedabad Customs against international drug trafficking networks operating through air routes.

The latest action comes only days after Customs authorities seized 6.54 kilograms of ganja at the Ahmedabad airport, indicating intensified surveillance and enforcement measures against narcotics smuggling.

Further investigation is under way to ascertain the source, intended destination and possible network links connected to the seized consignment, officials added.
