Ahmedabad Crime Branch takes over probe into Seventh Day Adventist School student’s murder, two detained

Following the vandalism at Ahmedabad’s Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra over the killing of a student outside the school premises, the Crime Branch has issued a statement in connection with the case.
JCP Sharad Singhal of Ahmedabad Crime Branch informed that as per the demands of the victim’s family, the probe has been handed over to the Crime Branch.
Accused detained
So far, two accused, including a minor in conflict with the law, have been detained. The weapon used in the murder has been seized by the Crime Branch.
Another adult accused has been found to have aided the minor.
The victim’s family has alleged that as many as seven minors were involved in the incident. The Crime Branch will examine these claims in the coming days.
Questions on school management
Allegations have surfaced that the school management called for a water tanker in an attempt to destroy evidence. This, too, will be investigated.
The role of the school management, principal and other responsible authorities will also be scrutinised.
Probe into vandalism at school
The Crime Branch will investigate those responsible for vandalism inside the school premises. Local police will probe how vandalism occurred inside the school despite police presence.
Tension spiralled into large-scale violence in Khokhra on Wednesday after the death of a Class 10 student of Seventh Day Adventist School, who was stabbed by a fellow student on Tuesday.
What began as an angry protest by parents and community members turned into vandalism and assaults inside the school premises, forcing the police to intervene with a lathi-charge.
