Ahmedabad Crime Branch solves Khokhra murder case, arrests accused in fatal stone attack within days
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has solved the Khokhra murder case by arresting the alleged accused within days of the incident. The case came to light after a man was found dead in the Khokhra area earlier this month.
The victim was identified as Deepak Rameshwar Koshti, whose body was found near Bhagwandas ni Chali in Ahmedabad’s Khokhra area on June 19. According to police, the victim suffered fatal injuries after being allegedly attacked with a heavy stone.
After registering a murder case, Crime Branch teams launched an investigation using local intelligence inputs, technical surveillance and continuous monitoring to trace the suspect. During patrolling, officials received specific information about the accused’s location and intercepted him near Lalbhai Centre.
The accused was identified as Mangal alias Baba Babubhai Nagubhai Bokde (42). Police said that during questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he and the victim were consuming alcohol together when an argument broke out between them.
According to investigators, during the altercation, the victim allegedly threw a stone at the accused. In retaliation, Mangal allegedly attacked Deepak with a large boulder, causing fatal injuries before fleeing from the spot.
Crime Branch officials said the accused was detained under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and later handed over to Khokhra Police Station for further legal proceedings. Further investigation into the case is underway.
