Ahmedabad Crime Branch seize ganja worth ₹2 lakh, two arrested in Bapunagar raid

The Detection of Crime Branch has arrested two persons and seized nearly 4 kg of suspected ganja during a late-night raid at a house in the Bapunagar area of the city.
According to police officials, the raid was conducted by a team of the Crime Branch after receiving a tip-off that narcotic substances were being stored at a residence in Gayatrinagar, Sundaramnagar.
Based on the information, police personnel kept watch near the location on the night of March 10. Around 9.45 pm, officers noticed a black scooter without a number plate arriving at the spot. A man carrying a plastic bag reportedly entered the house, after which the police team moved in and secured the premises.
The officers detained two persons identified as Imran Khan Ajalkhan Pathan, 31, a resident of Gomtipur, and Kayanat Banu, 28, a resident of Bapunagar.
Police said a plastic bag found inside the house contained a substance resembling cannabis leaves and stems. The substance was later tested using a field drug detection kit by a forensic officer, which confirmed the presence of ganja.
Officials stated that the seized substance weighed 3.912 kg. Based on prevailing market estimates, the contraband is valued at around ₹1.95 lakh.
In addition to the narcotics, police also seized two mobile phones, a black Honda Activa scooter without a number plate and cash from the possession of the accused. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at about ₹3.33 lakh.
During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators that the consignment had been procured from a man identified as Rauf alias Lala, believed to be a resident of Gomtipur.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including sections and further investigation is on.
