Ahmedabad court sentences man to life imprisonment in Gomtipur murder case

The City Civil and Sessions in Ahmedabad has sentenced Abidkhan  Pathan to life imprisonment for the murder of his relative. The incident occurred on May 27, 2022, in the Rajpur area of Gomtipur, Ahmedabad.

According to the prosecution, the victim, an auto-rickshaw driver, was confronted by the accused over suspicions regarding an alleged illicit relationship with his wife.

The dispute escalated on a staircase near their residence, leading the accused to assault the victim and inflict a fatal wound on his abdomen with a small sword.

The victim was rushed to Shardaben Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

The court found the accused guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of ₹10,000.

Additionally, he was sentenced to one month of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,000 under Section 323 and 294(b) of the IPC. The court acquitted the accused of charges under Section 135(1) of the Gujarat Police Act.
