The Ahmedabad District Court has denied bail to Yatin Soni, accused of allegedly cheating a jeweller by obtaining 22-carat gold jewellery weighing 381.090 grams, valued at ₹42.31 lakh.

The court rejected the accused’s bail plea, observing that there had been no change in the circumstances of the case despite a compromise reached between the accused and the complainant. Previous bail applications—both before and after filing of the chargesheet—were also turned down on the merits of the case.

According to the prosecution, the offence occurred in August 2025. On August 22, Soni contacted the complainant, claiming his customer required an antique jewellery set and requested photos. He later informed the complainant over the phone that the customer had received the jewellery and payment would be sent within 8 to 10 days. On August 27, Soni sought additional photos, leading to more jewellery being dispatched. However, on August 29, the promised payment failed to materialise, and Soni's phone was switched off for three days.

Upon inquiry, the complainant learned that Soni was allegedly involved in similar offences with several other traders. An FIR was subsequently registered at Navrangpura Police Station.

During the bail hearing, the counsel for the complainant submitted that 108.690 grams of 22-carat gold had been recovered, along with an ICICI Bank cheque for the remaining amount, from the accused. The complainant expressed no objection to accused being granted bail.

However, the court held that the compromise did not alter the fundamental circumstances of the case and refused to grant relief.
