Ahmedabad commissioner orders transfer of 51 police inspectors in the city

The recently appointed police commissioner of Ahmedabad, Gyanendra Singh Malik, ordered the transfer of 51 police inspectors (PI) in the city on Aug 29.

Ahmedabad police stated that the transfers were undertaken to speed up the public services offered by the department.

Major transfers in West zonal

In the city’s West zone, the police inspectors of Sola, University, Chandkheda, Vasna, Ellisbridge, Sarkhej, Paldi, and Bodakdev have been transferred.

Sola police station’s PI, JB Agrawat, who has been in talks after two incidents of police vigilantism in his zone, has been replaced by RH Solanki and is transferred to the traffic K division.

The newly built Bodakdev police station’s PI, AR Dhawan, has been replaced by SN Patel and has been transferred to Vejalpur as the second PI.

Inspectors allocated to several wards 

Other than this, 25 PIs operating in the police control room have been assigned their respective postings.

The cybercrime branch faction has also been appointed with six more inspectors.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) also sees the allocation of PIs in their ward.

Commissioner Malik takes note of police vigilantism 

The police commissioner has directed all the deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to take hold of the vigilante police officers’ situation in their respective zones.

The zone-1 DCP had mentioned that a decoy is to be set up in several areas to catch the on-field police officers demanding money from people.
