Ahmedabad municipal commissioner orders citywide inspection of bridges following Vadodara incident

A day after the collapse of the Gambhira bridge in Vadodara that claimed 15 lives, Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner has directed Bridge Project Department officials to inspect all the bridges in Ahmedabad, including railway overbridges and river bridges.
In Ahmedabad, there are 89 bridges including 11 bridges over the Sabarmati river, 25 railway bridges, 20 flyover bridges, three minor bridges, and severn canal box culverts.
Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani has instructed the department to inspect the structural stability of all these bridges. If any repairs are needed, they should be carried out immediately to ensure safety.
Additionally, the commissioner has directed that a detailed report be submitted within one week.
