College student killed, friend injured in hit-and-run by speeding SUV in Ahmedabad

A tragic incident unfolded late on Tuesday night when a 20-year-old college student lost his life, and his friend sustained serious injuries after a speeding SUV allegedly rammed their motorcycle near the Amikunj Society crossroads in Naranpura. According to police reports, the vehicle driver has been booked on charges of negligent and reckless driving.
The incident occurred around 11 pm on May 13, when Brijesh Dudabhai Dodia, a resident of Viveknagar Society near Ankur Crossroads, and his friend Aryan Vajubhai Barad, also aged 20, were riding their motorcycle. Eyewitnesses reported that they were struck by a white Hyundai Creta, which was being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner. After the incident, the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot, leaving his car behind.
Following the hit-and-run accident, police stated that Aryan suffered grievous head injuries, while Dodia sustained minor injuries. Both were rushed to the Civil Hospital for immediate medical attention. Tragically, Aryan was declared dead during treatment at approximately 12.45 am on May 14.
A complaint has been lodged at the B Division Traffic Police Station, the driver of the SUV has been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections causing death by negligence and rash driving endangering human life. Additionally, charges have been filed under Sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Authorities have initiated further investigations to ascertain the identity of the driver and to establish the precise sequence of events leading up to the tragic accident. Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward with information that may assist in the ongoing inquiry.
