Ahmedabad cafe sealed after insects found in coffee, food

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed the Bodakdev outlet of Mocha Cafe after multiple customers allegedly found insects in coffee and food items served at the cafe, as per reports.
Four to five customers reportedly complained to AMC’s food department after spotting insects in beverages and food during their visit. One customer reportedly claimed that insects were found in coffee, while another diner allegedly noticed contamination in food served at the outlet.
Following the complaints, AMC's health department officials inspected the premises and reportedly found hygiene-related violations. Customers also allegedly noticed cockroaches and insects in the kitchen area before informing civic authorities.
The café was subsequently sealed pending further investigation under food safety and public health regulations, and authorities also initiated checks regarding cleanliness, pest control and food handling standards.
This is not the first time Mocha has faced action over hygiene concerns. In November 2025, AMC fined another Mocha outlet ₹25,000 after insects were allegedly found in a chapati basket served to customers.
The latest incident adds to a series of food safety crackdowns by AMC across Ahmedabad, where several eateries have faced sealing and penalties over contamination and unhygienic conditions in recent months.
