A 42-year-old businessman from Gota in Ahmedabad has lodged a police complaint alleging that four unidentified men stole ₹2 lakh from his car after engaging him in conversation near the entrance of his residential society in December last year.

As per the First Information Report registered on February 20, the incident occurred on December 5, 2025, at approximately 5.30 pm near the gate of Prime Status Society, located close to Eulogia Hotel in Gota.

Alpeshkumar Kantilal Patel, a resident of Gota, stated that he runs a pharmaceutical raw materials business under the name APMP Life Sciences and owns a Honda BR-V car.

Patel stated in his complaint that on the day of the incident, he had gone to the office of P M Angadiya near Science City Road to collect ₹2 lakh sent by a friend. After collecting the cash, he placed the money in a plastic bag and kept it on the footrest in front of the passenger seat of his vehicle.

He then drove towards his residence, turning from Kargil Petrol Pump towards Gota Char Rasta and proceeding to Prime Status Society. Near the entrance of the society, two unidentified men, aged around 30 to 35 years, arrived on a black motorcycle and signalled him to stop his vehicle.

Patel alleged that when he stopped, the rider and the pillion rider approached his car and began speaking to him provocatively. He avoided engaging in an argument and drove towards the society gate. However, the same motorcycle allegedly followed him and once again signalled him to stop.

At this point, Patel opened the window on the passenger side, and as one of the men approached the driver’s side window, he opened that as well. While the two men continued to engage him in conversation, his attention remained diverted.

During this time, two other unidentified men on a separate motorcycle allegedly came to the passenger side of the car and stole the plastic bag containing ₹2 lakh from the footrest area without his immediate knowledge.

Patel stated that he had been busy throughout the day and realised the theft only later. After informing his family members, he approached the police to initiate legal action.

A case of theft has been registered at Sola High Court police station, and further investigation is under way. Police said efforts are being made to identify the accused through CCTV footage from the area and other technical surveillance.
