Ahmedabad airport receives bomb threat via email, security tightened, probe on

A bomb threat sent via email to blow up Ahmedabad airport on Tuesday triggered panic among security agencies, prompting airport authorities to file a complaint.
After a threat was received to bomb the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad, security agencies sprang into action. Following the threat, airport and police authorities were put on high alert. Suspecting the involvement of elements with Khalistani ideology, a formal complaint has been registered at the airport police station and security across the entire campus has been tightened.
According to available information, the threat was sent from an unknown email ID aldurham420@gmail.com
(Amber Durham). The email was received at the airport’s official email ID dtm.amd@adani.com and other feedback addresses around 11.05 am on January 27. The subject line of the email read ‘BOMB Blast luggage Section’.
The message stated that Ahmedabad airport was a target and included remarks such as “Sikhs are not Hindus” and claimed that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were enemies of Khalistan, while also threatening serious consequences.
Soon after the threatening email was received, the airport’s chief security officer and senior officials of the Adani Group got into action. Considering the seriousness of the threat, an emergency meeting of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened at 11.20 am. The meeting lasted for around half-an-hour, during which all aspects were thoroughly reviewed. The committee ultimately declared the threat as ‘non-specific’, but precautionary security checks were intensified.
In connection with the incident, the airport’s landside security duty manager Ravikant Bhardwaj lodged a complaint against an unidentified person at the airport police station. Police have registered a case under sections of the IT Act and criminal intimidation, and with the help of the cyber cell are attempting to trace the location of the sender. Officials including Pavan Singh Chauhan and Ashok Ranwa are being questioned as witnesses in the case.
