Ahmedabad Airport Police crack ₹2.58 crore gold jewellery parcel theft case, seven held

The Ahmedabad Airport Police Station has arrested seven persons in connection with the alleged theft of a gold jewellery parcel worth ₹2.58 crore that went missing during air cargo transit from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru, police said on Monday.
According to officials, the complaint was lodged by Balvir Singh Rathod, 37, associated with Sequel Logistics Company, after one of seven consignments handed over for air transport allegedly disappeared before reaching its destination.
Police said the parcel, booked on April 18 from the cargo terminal at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, contained gold jewellery weighing 2.107 kilograms and valued at ₹2.58 crore The consignment, had reportedly been dispatched on behalf of Titan Company and RBZ Jewellers for delivery to Bengaluru through Akasa Air.
Investigators said the parcel was received at Ahmedabad airport cargo facilities but never reached Bengaluru, prompting the registration of a case under Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Multiple teams of the Airport Police Station were formed to probe the case using CCTV footage, surveillance inputs and technical intelligence.
Police said the accused allegedly conspired to commit the theft in a pre-planned manner. The arrested accused were identified as Salemohammed alias Salam Mohammad Amin Ansari, 37, of Junagadh; Dilipbhai alias Bapu Jayantibhai Patel, 49, of Sardarnagar; Roshankumar Bipinbhai Patel, 29, originally from Navsari and currently residing in Sardarnagar; Zaid Hasan Iqbalbhai Ansari, 32, of Juhapura; Sultan Ibrahimbhai Sama, 22, of Junagadh; Ravikantbhai Vinodkumar Bagiya, 35, of Junagadh; and Kiranbhai Sadashiv Pawar, 40, a trader residing in Raipur area of Ahmedabad.
During the investigation, police recovered cash amounting to ₹69.24 lakh along with gold and silver coins and other valuables collectively worth ₹1.02 crore. The total recovery in the case stood at ₹1.72 crore, officials said.
Further investigation into the case is under way, police added.
