After Ahmedabad, bomb threat to Collector’s office in Vadodara triggers panic

After multiple bomb threats in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, a bomb threat was received at the district Collector’s office in Vadodara, triggering panic across the administrative and police machinery.
The Collector’s office, located in the Diwalipura area of Vadodara city, received a bomb threat through an anonymous email on Thursday, following which the premises were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure.
According to preliminary information, a threatening message was received on the official email ID of the Collector’s office earlier in the morning. The email explicitly stated that a bomb had been planted inside the office premises and that it would explode at 1 pm. The message caused alarm among officials, who immediately alerted the police.
Soon after the threat was received, a large contingent of senior police officials rushed to the spot. To prevent any loss of life, all departments functioning within the Collector’s office were evacuated without delay. Considering the seriousness of the situation, employees were given a half-day leave and asked to move out of the premises.
Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) personnel and dog squads were deployed to thoroughly search the entire office complex. Each section of the premises was carefully checked as part of the operation.
Police officials said that special caution was exercised keeping the 1 pm deadline mentioned in the email in mind. However, no suspicious or explosive material has been found so far during the search. Despite this, security checks are continuing as a precaution.
The cyber crime branch has also been activated in connection with the incident. Efforts are underway to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender using technical surveillance. Police are investigating whether the threat was issued with malicious intent to spread panic or as part of a deliberate attempt to disrupt public order.
