The Drishti 10 Starliner drone, developed by Adani Defence and Aerospace in Hyderabad with tech transfer from Israeli Elbit Systems, crashed in Porbandar, Gujarat, during its pre-trial phase on Tuesday. The Indian Navy has stated that the incident will not result in any loss, as the drone had not yet been inducted into their fleet. The Starliner system, which is valued at over ₹120 crore each, was undergoing trials when the mishap occurred.

The Drishti 10 Starliner is based on the Israeli-made Hermes 900, designed for a variety of surveillance and reconnaissance missions. These drones are assembled in Hyderabad, contributing to India’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities.

Despite the crash, the Navy emphasised that the drone had not yet entered active service, and the failure occurred during an initial testing phase.
