Activa rider abuses, threatens traffic cop who issued memo for wrong side driving in Anandnagar, flees spot

A traffic police constable was allegedly abused and threatened by a man on an Activa scooter on the wrong side near the Shell petrol pump in Anandnagar, after he was stopped for a traffic violation. The accused, who was riding with a female pillion passenger, fled the scene after hurling expletives and issuing violent threats against the officer on duty.
According to the complaint filed by Varshaben Arvindkumar, a head constable with the N Division Traffic Police currently posted as assistant Beat In-Charge in the Anandnagar area, the incident occurred on the evening of July 10 during a routine enforcement drive.
While checking for traffic violations near the Shell petrol pump, the police team noticed an Activa scooter being driven on the wrong side of the road with a woman as a pillion rider. Constable Mayurbhai, who was assisting in issuing memos, stopped the rider and began preparing a challan for riding on the wrong side.
At that point, the accused allegedly became aggressive and started arguing with the constable. According to the complaint, he shouted, “Why are you making a memo? Why are you taking my photo?”, and then launched into a barrage of obscene abuse, threatening to “break the officer’s leg”. He then sped away from the spot on his scooter.
The H divison of traffic police have registered a case against the unidentified Activa rider under relevant sections for obstructing a public servant in discharge of duty, issuing criminal threats, and using obscene language. The N Division Traffic Police have initiated further investigation to trace and apprehend the accused. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the probe.
