ACB files corruption charges against ex-GUJSAIL CEO

In yet another case of babus involved in corruption cases, former CEO of Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) Ajay Chauhan has been booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for misuse of power.

“A security officer has filed a complaint against Captain Ajay Chauhan and alleged that during his tenure at GUJSAIL he used government aircraft for personal use and his family’s,” ACB Deputy Director G V Padheriya said.

“Chauhan has incurred a loss of ₹72 lakh to the government through acts of corruption,” Padheriya added.

As per reports, there is proof and documents related to the alleged irregularities. The ACB has registered offences against Captain Chauhan, who is under suspension, while charges have also been framed against  Alpesh Rajesh Tripathi, Director of Cashmac Aviation Pvt Ltd, and Alpeshkumar Prajapati, an accountant at GUJSAIL.

Along with the GUJSAIL job, Chauhan worked at Aryan Aviation and earned ₹49 lakh. He also created fake vouchers for outsourcing worth ₹10 lakh with Tripathi.

After the scam came to light in 2017, an ACB probe was initiated against Chauhan and he was suspended.

A special team has been constituted which is probing Chauhan’s bank accounts, properties, and other investments.

According to sources, Chauhan invested millions of rupees in Pali district of Rajasthan. Notably, Chauhan had worked in the Civil Aviation Department of Gujarat for 18 years, serving as CEO for 13 years. During this period, he allegedly engaged in rampant corruption.
